So it has been has been almost a month since we began the journey of diaper freedom, other wise known as potty training. We had made a little bit of progress in the past weeks. Adlay has moved from the little her-size potty to sitting on the real-human-size potty with the assistance of her potty seat. She now says “ottie” when she wants to go sit on the potty. We even have a potty dance and song people. Yeah I know….strange but more strangely…..effective.
All this progress however hasn’t come without a new problem. While she doesn’t fight me to sit on the potty and most often insists we go no less than 572 times a day she STILL hasn’t “done” anything once on the potty. Not only has she not done anything, yesterday she actually held in the…uh….messy stuff for the entire day. Yep, no poopie all day. And for this kid that is unheard of.
So my question is what if anything does that mean? Is she trying to tell me to back off? I mean I haven’t really been pushing her into it, she’s been the one who asks to go “ottie”, I have just been helping her along. So why then would she all of a sudden be rebelling?
I am at a total loss as to what to do. All day today she has told me “ottie” after she wet or “messed” up her diaper, just as she always does. We sat on the potty several times and still nothing. I call upon the force of you Potty Yodas out there to give me some advice as to what you did with your little ones when they resisted. Did you give them a few days reprieve or keep plugging away? Guide me Potty Yodas.
