7 Quick Takes: I’m goin to the beach, opening a business and praying my child forgets who Dora is edition

I am leaving for the beach today and will not return until July 5th!!! Holla sucka!!!

I hoped this day would never come, but alas it has. My daughter has discovered Dora the Explorer, or as I like to call her Dora “exploring” a way across the border. And before you even think it, NO I did not introduce her to it. See this is what happens when Daddy is in charge. I go to one sewing class and come home and she is screaming “Dor Dor”. Now EVERYWHERE we go and she sees Dora anything she LOOSES HER MIND. I asked her what kind of birthday party she wanted for her 2^nd birthday in November and she responded, “Dor Dor Buots Buots (Boots)”. Lord in Heaven help me.

So after much consideration and prayerful thought I have decided to do something I have always wanted to do. No I am not having another child Amanda. I am opening an online business. I will be selling handmade children’s clothes and gifts. I am super pumped about it. I have been sewing like my life depended on it. My website is under construction so check back for updates when it goes live.

I have blogged before about my love for Bare Minerals makeup and now I have a fab new mascara to share with the internets. It is called Lights, Camera Lashes by Tarte. You can find I at Sephora and it is eye magic in a pretty purple leather tube. Yea you read correctly, the tube is purple and leather, well probably pleather but still. It curls, lengthens and conditions all with zero clumps. I freakin’ love this stuff.

It is face melting hot here in the great state of Alabama. The heat index has not dipped below 98 all week, except for yesterday when it was only 96 and I thought I would have to pull out a sweater (so kidding I don’t even know where my sweaters are at this point). I see all these news stories about how hot it is in places like Chicago and NY and I laugh, evilly at their silly heat. In Alabama we have 6,799% humidity everyday and ZERO breeze. It is cut the air with a knife hot, stifling take your breath away hot. Until you hae actually felt Alabama heat in say mid-July don’t even try to compare it to anywhere else.

I have found a new show to watch in this vast Tivo waste land I call summer. No it is not SYTYCD, they all think they can and so what else is there? It is called Royal Pains on USA. It is about this doc who gets fired and goes to the Hamptons to chill and gets persuaded into becoming a concierge doctor to the rich. The banter is clever, the medicine is real and the setting is not Miami or New York, well NYC that is cuz the Hamptons are technically in NY. It is very funny and I am quite desperate for something to watch other than CSI reruns. How long till my LOST comes back???
